Senior CloudOps Engineer

Roles & responsibilities

• Lead efforts to build, maintain, and extend a top-notch cloud infrastructure that supports modern microservice application development.

• Establish and advocate a culture of modern CloudOps engineering best practices and design patterns for aspects such as logging, tracing, alert mechanisms, and key management.

• Lead cross-functional teams that take ownership of the full software lifecycle.

• Work with DevOps team members to design and implement zero-downtime deployments.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-commented source code.

• Independently read relevant literature and share your insights and knowledge with other stakeholders.

• Collaborate with other teams to make optimal software architecture design decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related field.

• 5+ years of industry work experience or equivalent.

• Familiarity with cloud computing, including concepts such as virtual machines, containers, serverless functions, access-control policies, system security, and microservice design patterns.

• Familiarity with advanced concepts in cloud computing, such as Kubernetes, service meshes, fault- and latency-aware architectures and zero-downtime deployments.

• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code, performance monitoring of deployed resources, and alert mechanisms.

• Experience in cloud architecture design.

• Familiarity with public cloud providers such as GCP, AWS, and Azure.

• Understanding of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, design patterns, source control management, and test automation.

• Familiarity with hybrid cloud and fog computing is a plus.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
